Bull Mastiff Breeders

From the times of the breed’s inception, Bull Mastiff Breeders have been working around the clock to create a reliable and protective companion, and they have succeeded in many ways. Initially, the Bull mastiff was intended for tracing and catching poachers, which invaded estates in the 1800s, so estate owners needed a strong and intelligent canine companion to counteract poachers.

The breed originated as cross between the English Bulldog (the older version, which, unlike the present-day Bulldog, was much more ferocious) and the Mastiff. Bull Mastiff Breeders sought to combine the strength and determination of the Mastiff with the agility and speed of the Bulldog in the new breed. The would-be Bull Mastiff was not supposed to harm poachers he would catch, but was trained to pin them to the ground, not letting them get up and run away.

Bull Mastiffs have retained their superb guarding abilities and they can still be used for such purposes. Today, these dogs are increasingly popular in many countries of the world. They are renowned for their exceptional protectiveness, which has nothing in common with viciousness, and enviable intelligence. Bull Mastiffs love to spend their time around their owners, and are known to their striving to stay near their owners’ beds during night hours, which is actually a manifestation of a long inherited guarding instinct. This is one of the dog’s basic traits, and all good Bull Mastiff Breeders

Bull Mastiffs are good with children, and they tolerate many things they would not tolerate from adults, like pulling at their ears, patting on the back or pushing. It should be noted, that children should not be allowed to play with these dogs without supervision, because these dogs are large and powerful and an accidental movement of the dog may result in your kid lying down on the floor. All conscientious Bull mastiff Breeders warn their potential clients about this, and they do not usually recommend this breed for families with young children. Well socialized Bull Mastiffs are tolerant of other animals in the house. However, they are usually dog-aggressive, especially with dogs trespassing on their territory. Males are very territorial.

Bull Mastiffs measure 23-25 (females) and 24-26 (males) inches high at the shoulder. They have a short coat, which comes in various shades of fawn or brindle. The muzzle is black and wrinkly. The jaws close in a firm scissors bite. Bull Mastiffs drool and snore, and they are very sensitive to cold and heat. Unfortunately, these dogs are prone to many genetic disorders, such as hip and elbow dysplasia, eye problems, skin allergies and tumors. In order to reduce the risk of purchasing a dog with a poor genetic potential, please, do not buy puppies from dollar-oriented Bull Mastiff Breeders, who breed poor quality dogs.
